Quebec City’s France Festival (quebec-cite.com) runs from Aug. 5 to 15 with seven history-inspired quests for visitors to discover treasure in Vieux Quebec and Petit-Champlain. Purchase a medallion for $15 or go online for free through your mobile to follow the characters and clues throughout the old town.

1 Hotel Toronto (1hotels.com) is now open, welcoming guests to its sustainability-inspired public spaces, including rooms designed with reclaimed timber, extensive greenery throughout and four dining options (try Casa Madera, inspired by the flavours of Mexico and the Mediterranean). Hotel Versante (versantehotel.com) has opened in Richmond, B.C. The colourful 100-room property includes a rooftop pool, gym and three dining options including Mediterranean-inspired Bruno.

Ontario glamping hot spot Whispering Springs (whisperingsprings.ca) has added three new accommodation options. Treetop Tents are nestled in the property’s tree canopy and connected by suspension bridges. They feature art by Lee Higginson and have been decorated by Canadian lifestyle retailer Indigo. Four Seasons Toronto (fourseasons.com) has partnered with the Cheese Boutique to offer a special weekend takeout edition of afternoon tea featuring locally sourced cheeses and tasty menu items such as strawberry and balsamic cheesecake and scones with Mimolette.
