DONALD JAMES HOOPER

From Fort Erie, Ontario, Don passed away peacefully with his family by his side just shy of his 93rd birthday on November 6, 2021. He was born in Port Credit, Ontario to Lawrence and Helen (Clubb) Hooper. He was predeceased by his first wife of 47 years, Helen Jean Schenk of Ayton, Ontario and later his second wife Dorothy Orma Bleakley of North York, Ontario. Don graduated from the University of Toronto School of Pharmacy in 1952 and was an avid member of the alumni association. He first went to work for Parke Davis in Ontario. Don then moved to Philadelphia and New Jersey to work in the flavor and fragrance industry with Fritzsche Dodge & Olcott. His last position with FDO was as president of their Canadian division. He was a longstanding member of IFT (Institute of Food Technologists). Upon retirement, Don returned to his training in pharmacy and worked at Boots Pharmacy in Ontario. After leaving retail pharmacy he moved to Asheville, NC and then Phoenixville, PA. Don was an avid reader, lover of jazz, active player of tennis and student of aviation. Don is survived by his brother Robert (Mary); his children Paul (Robin) Hooper, Bryan (Wendy) Hooper, Nancy Cornelius and Barbara (Robert) Patrick; his grandchildren Tristan, Clay, Ian, Bryn, Austin, Kate, Matt, Sam and Morgan along with nieces and nephews. He will be laid to rest at Springcreek Cemetery in Mississauga, Ontario sometime in the spring of 2022 after which there will be a celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations to the University of Toronto School of Pharmacy or your favorite canine charity would be appreciated by his family.
