DAVID MARSHALL PITFIELD

It is with great sadness that the Pitfield family announces the death of David Marshall Pitfield, who passed away suddenly on November 30, 2021, at age 31. He will be deeply missed by his father, Chip Pitfield; his stepmother, Michelle Savoy; his mother, Mary Jo Pitfield; and his brothers, Ward Pitfield (Katherine Greflund), Keefer Pitfield (Lindsay Pitfield) and Eric Pitfield.

He leaves behind his grandmother, Diana Pitfield, and was predeceased by his grandfather, Ward C. Pitfield. He was adored by his many aunts and uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces, and countless friends. Marsh struggled with depression all his adult life. It was a battle that

ebbed and flowed but became increasingly difficult over the past several years. We are all devastated and heartbroken, but also relieved that Marsh’s suffering has ended.

Marsh had a heart of gold. He was incredibly kind. He was intensely loyal. And he was a passionate and enthusiastic chef; few things gave him greater pleasure than preparing meals for those he loved. He was a budding carpenter and gifted athlete. Marsh was predeceased by a close friend, who just a month before his passing wrote a song that Marsh felt was written with him in mind. Through a series of serendipitous kindnesses, the song was recorded in Nashville. Marsh would have wanted it included in this obituary ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTPmMrPtSGU). Donations in Marsh’s memory might be made to Lumenus Community Services (formerly Oolagen) but Marsh would have been just as pleased by spontaneous acts of kindness and generosity to anybody less fortunate.

A private funeral will be held shortly, followed by a larger celebration of life sometime in May when we can all safely congregate outside.
