MARILYN ELIZABETH NIGHTINGALE

( née Wilkie)

On Monday November 29, 2021, suddenly at the age of 80 years old. She was seated in her favourite chair, beside her Christmas tree, in the home that she loved.

Mother to Cindy (Paul) and Brad (Josee). GrandmothertoCameron, Alexander, Brittany (James), Connor (Brittney) and Madison. Great-Grandmother to Charlotte, Jack, Weston and Raelynn. Our Mom loved her children and her grandchildren fiercely and proudly. She was a strong and capable person who weathered the tragedy of our father Larry’s terrible illness and early death with poise and reserve. She protected us, and provided us with the stability we needed as children to lead happy and healthy adult lives.

She loved her sister, Karen (Don) and her brother, Don (Sandy) and their families. Holiday events and family picnics were her favourite things to attend. A great baker, she always brought the pies. She loved animals, especially her grand-dogs. Animals touched her soul somehow and made her smile and laugh.

Oh and how she loved to laugh. She laughed till she cried with her best friend Dianne for 75 years. Her pretty blue eyes would light up and start to sparkle as tears streamed down her cheeks. She always said how healthy it was to have a good laugh.

We will all miss that wonderful sense of humour and the love that she surrounded us all with during her lifetime. We hope that she has met up with our Dad who was her one and only true love.

We will be having a small private family gathering to celebrate Mom’s life.
