MAE WAXER

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mae Waxer on November 28, 2021 at the age of 89. She was predeceased by husband Albert, stepson Steven, parents Clarence and Gertrude Drew, brothers Charles and Reginald Drew, sisters Eileen Rowan (Frank) and Grace Hardie (William). Mae was born in Orillia and later moved to Toronto. She married Albert Waxer in 1970 and together they enjoyed 41 years of marriage. Mae’s greatest joy was helping Albert raise the four Waxer siblings. In their retirement years they enjoyed long walks in downtown Toronto. A testament to their love was the romantic 41st wedding anniversary dinner that Albert planned from his palliative care bed at Baycrest.

Mae will be greatly missed by her step-children Cheryl Traub (Steven), Warren Waxer (Kathleen) and Camille Waxer Gooding (Russell). CherishedbubbytoMatthewTraub (Suzanne), Eric Traub, Hannah Ramsay (Michael), Clara Waxer, Benjamin Waxer and Lauren Gooding and great-grandsons Jace, Wesley and Brooks Traub, and Jacob Ramsay. Mae also leaves behind sister Hazel Reed (Fred), nieces Nancy Drew, Cathie Drew, along with many other family members.

Mae loved to entertain family and friends and will be remembered for her wonderful parties where everyone felt welcome. She was a 30 year volunteer for the Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day and enjoyed the cinema and Jazz-in-the-Kitchen events with her friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Glaucoma Research Society of Canada.
