In Victoria BC, suddenly after a brief illness in his 90th year, Ted — professor of French, student of art history, editor, critic, raconteur, traveller, bon vivant, lover of books, music, languages, the Middle Ages, soccer and cats, Sandra Cowan’s husband and best friend for 55 years — left us just after midnight on July 4th, 2022 with this request, that his obituary read:

“... no deeds to do, no promises to keep, I’m dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep.”
